Character dance is integral to much of classical ballet repertoire. It is the stylized representation of a traditional folk or national dance, normally from a European country and uses movements and dance which have been adapted for the theatre.

Ballets such Swan Lake and Don Quixote feature character dance.

 

Popular dances for ballets are: Czardas, Mazurka, Tarantella, Russian, Flamenco. We also include Greek dance in our program.
